Samsung: We have a plan for Windows Phone – beat Nokia

The relationship between Samsung and Windows can’t seem to get any better in the eyes of the two companies. However, users often complain that Samsung Windows Phones are uninspiring and rehashes of notable Samsung Android devices. Despite the belief held by die hard winbois, Samsung vows to release a crop of new Windows Phones. We previously broke the announcement of a GS III variant running Windows Phone Apollo, but what else does Samsung have up its sleeve?

According to an executive at Samsung:

Microsoft still has a big installed PC base and there are a lot of Windows applications out there that consumers want to get on a portable device. Windows 8 allows us to deliver across multiple devices

My source tells me that because of the drastic changes in the Windows Phone 8 OS, Samsung will be able to use the Galaxy S III’s faster processor, bigger and higher resolution display and of course, LTE, which will make swapping over specs into a Windows Phone device

In addition to providing those detail, the executive goes on to say that a phablet offering (mimicking that of the Galaxy Note) is also coming down the pike (though we’re not clear whether the phablet is running Windows or Windows Phone). Finally, for the Windows fans, a Windows slate is coming. More than likely, the slate is going to be an updated model of the Series 7 Slate running IvyBridge and updated specs. We can only hope this time, we have a keyboard dock with that Series 7 slate update.

If there is anything that is clear from the executive, it is the fact that Samsung does not want to be left in Nokia’s dust. This could generate some very good devices. I mean, while the design of the GS III can be considered uninspiring to some, imagine that running Windows Phone for a moment with an HD display. Or a Galaxy Note running Windows of any variety? Salivating yet? I am. But what about everyone else? Ready for a Windows Phone Phablet, a GSIII running Windows Phone, and whatever else Samsung is throwing? Let us know!

About the

I am a clinical psychology student that loves to inform on news related to smarphones and technology in general. I also love Microsoft's current Windows Phone OS as it is top of the class in terms of ux.

Uh no. The note in uninspired and too big. HD displays with clear black, vice samoled plus – win Nokia. Beautiful non-plasticky hardware – win Nokia. Established set of exclusive apps – win Nokia.

The note is also one of the highest selling devices next to the GS II and the screen many consider beautiful and top of the class.
The hardware from samsung is made from plastic, we’ve been through the schtick ad nauseum. And despite how it feels, people still buy it.
As for app selection, the parity for Windows Phone as a whole is dwarfed by Apple and Android. Yes nokia is bringing some apps over from symbian but it is poor compared to others.

Let’s just be real as I have said constantly. Nokia isn’t the winning horse. Something as simple as camera (something Nokia used to be great with) on the lumia is subpar in comparison to its competition. The nice display has errant issues.

So while I am loving the vigor by other OEMs, right now they come out with a more stable product. In fact I am reminded of the DVP in terms of lack of stability

Really.  What this article has to do with Android or IOS?  does Samsing Windows Phone as more Apps then Nokia Windows Phone?  You do like to bash Nokia when you get Chance maybe because you are getting paid by Samsung.

Read my comment. The instance I mentioned of any other ecosystem had nothing to do with the overall message. Way to go, but I guess that is perception for ya. Thief death of common sense…

I don’t bash Nokia if there’s not a HUGE reason. Goal is objectivity not fanboy grandstanding. I prefer the former and not the latter. But hey why listen to me, use the phones all of them Then come back =D

Since the SG Note first dropped, I have been waiting/asking/begging/pleading for a Note-type phablet that runs WP. Now, with the report of WP8 and the speculation of it happening soon, I believe there should be even more urgency for Samsung, HTC or Nokia to put on their big-boy pants and come out with a WindowsPhone8 PHABLET that will compete with the aforementioned SG Note 2.
