Nokia and Carl Zeiss joined hands back in 2005 creating revolotionary camera phones (like the N90). Recent camera phones with Carl Zeiss Optics include the incredible Nokia N8 and the undisputed monster in the camera department the Nokia 808 PureView. Reuters is reporting that Carl Zeiss and Nokia have extended their 7 year long partnership and this will fuel more products from partnership of both in the companies. In short, more PureView brilliance will be coming to Nokia devices in future.

Nokia and Carl Zeiss partnership extension is extremely cruical. Nokia started a trend of doing partnership with a company that specializes in one particular technology and later incorporating them to their existing technologies (HTC and Beats partnership is the latest one). Nokia needs to differentiate itself from other OEMs. Camera is where Nokia has been strong since the early smartphone days but now you have Apple, Samsung and more importantly HTC taking big strides in camera technology. Nokia needs more than just one PureView. Nokia + Windows Phone 8 + PureView technology. Make it happen, Nokia.
