First and foremost, a very Happy New year from the team of Windows Phone Sauce! We have some good news for you on the very first day of 2012. Flipkart, you can call it the Amazon.com of India, has released an official application on Windows Phone marketplace. The application lets you search and buy(with option for Cash On Delivery) on your mobile device. That’s about it. It’s v1.0 so we wouldn’t expect much but to be honest, I am a little disappointed. Search is very basic – no filters on an ecommerce site is like finding a needle in the haystack. The design is fairly basic, the “premium” feel on Flipkart.com’s web UI has unfortunately not carried on to the mobile application (take hint from Amazon and ebay app). Hoping to see a lot of positive changes – like user account with history of purchase and wishlist support along with better search functionality.
Being a heavy Flipkart user, this will make my life much easier. Flipkart becomes the first ecommerce website in India to launch an application on Windows Phone. Official description below, follow by download link.
“Flipkart present across various categories including movies, music, games, mobiles, cameras, computers and electronics – and still counting ! This application provides you the facility to do shopping through your mobile device. No online transaction hazards, pay only, when you receive your delivery. To ease your search, products are well categorised. Order placement is also just 3 steps away !”
